Dating (or the lack thereof)
Diary- July 23, 2008 Seventh Entry
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008 ”That can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars over the fence, World Series kind of love” - Diane Barrows in the film, “It Takes Two.”
A few weeks ago, one of my co-workers said ( about me) to one of our associates:
“Do you notice how she is glowing and smiling all the time?”
That friend of mine, whom […]
After the Meeting
Tuesday, July 15th, 2008This is how I pictured it but not at all how it happened.
Sitting in a corner booth, I have forgotten all about the menu in front of me.
Leaning forward in the seat I’ve taken across from theirs, my eyes wide open and sparkling with hopeful anticipation, I am the first to speak.
Speaking so eagerly I almost […]
Language Barrier
Thursday, June 19th, 2008I went to the library yesterday, straight from work, and borrowed the book “Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus.”
Though I have only had time to read the introduction, I already feel immensely comforted.
FINALLY, somebody gets it- and a man no less!
For the most part, talking to my boyfriend is the most enjoyable part […]
Merge
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008When I get off work this afternoon, I am going to the library to borrow “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus.”
I plan to read the book twice- at least.
I can honestly say that one of the biggest surprises in my life has been seeing firsthand how DIFFERENT men and women are.
I don’t remember anyone- parent, teacher, or pastor- emphasizing […]
The Game of Love
Tuesday, April 8th, 2008While browsing in a local Thrift store today, I found a small paperback book entitled, ” The Guide To Picking Up Girls.”
As I picked the book up to examine it, I thought to myself, ” Surely this must be a joke.”
But a quick flip through the pages indicated that the author ( a male) was […]
“The Office Bachelorette”: Episode 1
Saturday, March 15th, 2008The girls in my office think it is unfair that I have never dated and have decided to introduce me to some available guys.
Though the term ” being set up” to me has always implied, by the very nature of the words, and unhappy end and even though I prefer to ” do my own shopping”, I trust […]
Are You Single or Available?
Friday, September 28th, 2007Before you dismiss the title question as nonsense, consider how Webster defines the two terms.
Single: ” Not accompanied by another or others; solitary.”
Available: “Accessible; capable of being gotten; obtainable.”
The term “single“, as described above, implies sadness and loneliness.
In stark contrast, the word “available” paints a picture of one whom is approachable, confident and prepared.
“Single” highlights […]
Relationship Reflections
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007Last week, in “ Did I Send That” I left some serious questions unanswered.
The following is what I decided.
Question 1: What do ( or in this case, did) I hope to achieve by contacting the guy?
I wanted to find out where the guy was and if he was okay.
Those questions were answered by reading the guy’s […]
Did I send that?
Monday, September 17th, 2007In one of my more recent blogs, ” Hello Again” , I promised I would make a confession.
Here it is: The minute I found my ex, I e-mailed him.
I did so on an impulse and it was a mistake.
Before I go into details, I want the following to be known:
There was no romantic intent in the e-mail. I am not […]
Hello again
Monday, September 10th, 2007I should learn to follow my own advice.
Last week, as part of another article, I said: “Asking questions will bring answers, but not always the ones a person wants. It is my opinion that person should postpone searching until he has come to peace with that fact.”
Excellent counsel, even though I did offer it myself.
One thing I […]
