I realize it has been a long time since I have posted anything on here.
Please know that I have not forgotten about any of you or this site.

Expect a big announcement at the beginning of Season 2.
Please, stay tuned.

One Year Ago Today
By veronica lynn | August 14, 2008
One year ago today, I published my very first Blog here on this site.
Welcome to all the new Readers!
And to all of you Readers who not only supported this site in its beginning, but have honored me by choosing to remain, thank you so much!
I would love to give you a preview of what is in store for this site in the upcoming year.
But I cannot do that, since even I do not know yet what will occur.
I look forward to all of us making that discovery, hopefully along with many others, together this year.
Again, thank you so much for reading. This site would not be the same without you.

What to Expect When Veronica Lynn is Expecting.
By veronica lynn | May 19, 2008
No, I am NOT with child. I am absolutely, one hundred thousand percent positive about that.
Yes, it is true. I took incredible liberties with that title.
I trust you have all already forgiven me. Moving on.
I am somewhat hesitant to post the following because, if literary inspiration suddenly hits ( and it often does) and I proceed to publish a host of articles, this particular blog could make me appear rather silly.
But because I value all of your feelings, I will proceed.
To all whom it may concern:
I have not given up or abandoned this site. In fact, I have several future articles in the works already.
I know there have not been as many articles available lately.
The reason for this hiatus is that, as I am currently exploring some of the more personal aspects of my life, I have less information to immediately share.
I still check the site regularly, so feel free to leave me messages.
I enjoy hearing from you guys, so please don’t be strangers.
I want to give you each my personal pledge that as soon as I have something to blog, you guys will be the first to see it.
Please do stay tuned and especially, please stay in touch!
~ Veronica Lynn

May I
By veronica lynn | May 14, 2008
Hello, dear Readers!
Mark Twain once said: “Loyalty to a petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul.”
In the same spirit, Eugene F Ware declared, ” All glory comes from daring to begin.”
Along similar lines, is the following advice from an unknown author, ” Don’t waste a minute being unhappy. If one window closes - run to the next window - or break down a door.”
And most importantly, the Ultimate Authority, instructs in His Word, ” Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” ( Philippians 4:4)
While I have yet to achieve perfect application of any of those points in my life, by simply by making the effort, I have reaped many benefits.
That makes it all worthwhile.
I pray the same is true for you, both this month and always.
May we, like Charlotte Bronte be able to truly say of ourselves: ” I try to avoid looking forward or backward, and try to keep looking upward.”
And, in doing so, may our testimony be that of Robert Frost: ” I always entertain great hopes.”
As always, thanks for reading!

Yours Truly
By veronica lynn | April 23, 2008
A faithful Reader e-mailed me, asking about the following “Diary Of Frank Anna” entry and, in particular, why I used Caps in it.
Since there may be others of you whom wondered the same thing, I have elected to reply to that Reader here on the site.
The DOFA entry in question:
Diary- April 21, 2008:
I wish to extend the following request to everyone, their mamas, and each of their relatives all the way down to their twice removed third cousins: STOP JUDGING ME!
The reason I typed the post in Caps because I really meant the post and am not ashamed for everyone to see and take notice of it.
That particular statement has been a long time coming.
I had resisted publishing it because I was trying to be politically correct- something I am finished with.
My motivation in finally breaking my silence was two-fold:
First: As I always try to motivate my readers to be honest about who they are, I feel strongly that it is time for me to better practice what I preach.
Secondly:
I rarely hesitate when standing up for my friends and for God.
It is my deep desire that I learn ,when necessary, ( and sometimes it is) to be equally caring towards myself.
I want to always enforce proper boundaries and to promptly disregard bad counsel- no matter whom it comes from.
This is my evolving philosophy in a nut shell: People need to either come along side me or get out of my way.
I am extremely busy these days and have many things in my heart, which I wish to accomplish.
I cannot afford to succumb to the influence of naysayers, nor do I have the time or desire to answer to critics.
If it is not profitable- body, soul, and spirit, then I am not interested- period.
I am turning tables.
If that makes waves, then all I can advise people to do is buy a swim suit because they have entered the splash zone.
I hope everyone reads this Blog in the spirit with which I penned it.
I welcome feedback and while I cannot promise to adhere to your comments, I will take them all under prayerful consideration.
Thanks Reader for your question!

April Showers
By veronica lynn | April 14, 2008
Dear Readers,
Spring has sprung!
This time of year always has a profound effect on me.
I usually fancy myself in love.
More importantly, spring ( the newly blossoming flowers in particular) reminds me of dreams of mine that have been lying dormant.
Every spring, all over the earth, life is revived.
Witnessing such miraculous transformation makes me yearn for it in my own life.
I am sure I am not alone in this.
Though each of our specifics may differ greatly, I believe that all girls share the commonality of having aspirations- of holding close to our hearts dreams, both for ourselves and our loved ones.
In her book, “ If It’s Not One Thing, It’s Your Mother” comedian and author, Anita Renfroe, shares a list of desires she has for her daughter.
The list may surprise you.
I know that it blessed and encouraged me.
All I Really Want For You Is:
An unshakable sense that you are unique, valuable, kissed by God.
That you know you are loved by us no matter what.
To know that you always have other options.
The certainty that your dad and I could not be prouder to be your parents.
For you to look in the mirror and like what you see.
That you can lay your head down every night with a clear conscience.
For you to know that your worth is never dependent on a man.
That you can accomplish anything God puts in your heart to do.
Friends who will reflect your strengths and gently reveal your areas of weakness.
Friends who make you laugh and will let you have a good cry.
A strong sense of calling that goes beyond a paycheck.
The ability to spot posers and predators a mile away ( because you don’t need to get any closer to them than that).
A good idea when something is over and the ability to close the door and move on when it’s time.
A healthy respect for money coupled with the knowledge that stuff does not contain happiness molecules.
A closet that has minimal purchase mistakes so that every item is worthy of the inch allotted to it.
A memory brimming with experiences that keep widening your world.
Enough challenge in your life to keep you flexible.
For you to have the good sense to ask ” what?” instead of ” why?”
That you will always pay attention to how you feel and what you are feeling because emotions are a gift- feel them, but don’t make important decisions based solely on them.
A love of a good meal and great conversation.
The ability to celebrate everything.
The confidence to speak up when you need to and to leave things unsaid that won’t change anything.
Deep contentment no matter what the checkbook balance says.
To know how much time it takes to get things done and the discipline to do it.
Time for poor people, old people, and children.
The ability to calm your own self down.
A childlike wonder that remains with you until you are a hundred years young.
And, the hope and encouragement that comes from knowing that tomorrow brings a brand new bucket of fresh mercy. ( See Lamentations 3:22-23)*
I hope that you Readers daily find yourself caught up in multiple showers of God’s affection.
Remember: “God has not left Himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from Heaven, and crops in their seasons, He provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” **
Now. go gather your family and play in the rain!
Ready. Set. Spring into Action!
* Lamentations 3:22-23- Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
** ( Acts 14:17)

Spring in Your Step
By veronica lynn | March 14, 2008
St. Patrick’s Day is quickly approaching. In the spirit of the holiday, to everyone visiting the site, I extended to you “céad míle fáilte “-one hundred thousand welcomes!
To my regular readers:
First of all, thank you.
You might have noticed the slight but very important addition to the title of the site’s feature, ” Memos Of An Office Assistant“.
It has been a pleasure for me to write the series and that is why I have chosen to continue with it in spite of the changes at my job.
I hope you all enjoy.
I am a big fan of the show American Idol. ( Go Carly!)
As I watched the contestants perform music by The Beatles, I gained some much needed perspective from the chorus of ” Let It Be“, which was sung by one of the television program’s best artist, Brooke White.
” Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.”
Happy Easter to you all. God Bless.

Heart to Heart
By veronica lynn | February 14, 2008
Hello, dear Readers!
Many of you probably read in the Diary of Frank Anna ( DOFA) portion of this site that, for Lent, I gave up being scared.
I am both intrigued and excited to see what will happen as a result of that determination.
As of this morning, I am more than halfway through with my annual 19 days of hosting during the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
So far this month, between both my jobs, I have ended up working a minimum of 60 hours* per week.
( * I am too exhausted to care about calculating out the precise number. So there Steve!)
Per usual, all the activity has been an adventure and I have enjoyed myself.
Still, come the final day of the event, I know I will be ready to say, ” Happy Trails” to all the super long days, the dust, and all the stinky smells.
Last week, I ushered in the Chinese New Year both with a feast of fortune cookies and french fries and also, coincidentally, with spraying pomegranate juice.
This Chinese New Year was an extra special one for me.
In addition to reminding me of all my great, new Chinese friends, the holiday commemorated yet another opportunity for me to celebrate fresh starts.
Finally, Happy Valentines’ Day!
To my friend, Jenni: Happy Singles’ Awareness Day!
As I’ve never had a boyfriend, Valentines’ days so far have meant very little to me.
I’ve really only ever been interested in all the half priced treats that are available the day after.
Speaking of candy, the character Forrest Gump, in a film of the same name, says, ” My momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”
While some people might find the above statement to reek of helpless apathy, I choose to view Forrest’s words in another context- that life is forever full of infinite and delightfully satisfying possibilities.
I have found that life, like chocolate, is best when enjoyed with family and friends.
Have a happy one!

Oh Joy, It’s January!
By veronica lynn | January 14, 2008
Happy New Year!
My holiday was blessed. I hope your’s was too.
What I have come to realize about New Year’s is that, just like any other day, it is bound to include in it the repercussions of every decision made previous to it.
Wouldn’t it be great if on every January 1st everything which was not to our liking was suddenly made perfect- you know, kind of like the way the reset function restores a computer?
I would love that!
Life, however, does not work like that.
New Years will never for any of us be an absolute “ get out of all trouble free and clear” card.
That said, there is hope with the arrival of each new year because with it comes time- the opportunity to better love our friends and families, a chance to make more ourselves and our lives.
Every day of our lives will only happen to us once and, therefore, each moment is a tremendous blessing that should never be taken lightly.
Each new morning is a gift. Embrace it.
Some of you may have noticed that on January 6th there were some technical difficulties with the sight.
I actually thought the site had crashed and that all the articles and comments on here were gone forever, something which caused me to feel a huge sense of loss.
Though the issue was quickly resolved, the experience served as a very tangible reminder of how grateful I am for this site and all you who participate it here.
That is something I will remember for a very long time.
I already have had the opportunity to learn my first very important lesson of the year .
It was: Do not automatically believe anything you hear, regardless of which person has said it.
Even the people who would never purposely lead you astray will sometimes give you improper counsel.
Also, some things will only be revealed with time so it wise to proceed with patience as well as diligence.
I will probably delve greater into this subject in blogs to come. Keep reading.
In closing, I want to share with you some excellent advice from my pastor, Steve Fender.
He cited Philippians 3:13* and encouraged me to make this a year in which I make it a priority to sort out what to continue and what to quit, what to remember and what to forget.
Think of it as spring cleaning for the soul.
Time to shine!
* Philippians 3:13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.
