10 Verses to Comfort Your Broken Heart

10 Verses to Comfort Your Broken Heart

A breakup is one of the most painful circumstances many of us experience.

It’s something I never wanted to go through and I’m sure you didn’t (or don’t want to go through) either. I don’t know anyone who enters a relationship in hopes that it will end with sadness and a broken heart.

I know that I never wanted that.

The hope is that the relationship will work out beautifully and the two will live happily ever after. That is often not the case though. Sadly, the majority of us will experience a broken heart at some point in our dating/relationship days.

If this is something you, or a friend, are going through, I want to offer you some hope and encouragement. I’ve listed out 10 of my personal favorite Scripture passages that I turned to when I went through my breakups.

These verses brought me such comfort, hope, and direction for how to deal with my broken heart.

To help encourage you further, I want to offer you a FREE “Breakup Survival Guide” through our Patreon page. Anyone who joins our Patreon family will get a free breakup survival guide (as well as access to all previous Patron-only free products). The breakup survival guide will help you to navigate your heart and emotions in a Christ-centered and biblical way.

10 Verses to Comfort Your Broken Heart

He is Caring

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? Matthew 6:26-27

He can be Trusted

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

He can change your Heart

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 61:10

He is your Shepard

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Psalm 23:1-3

He is your Refuge

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

He offers Peace

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah  26:3

His grace is Sufficient

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

He is close to the Brokenhearted

The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:17-18

He is your Comforter

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

He cares for You

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
