I’ll never forget the day that my lifelong dream, to become an official published author, became a glimmer of hope in my future.
It was just a regular day with absolutely nothing special about it.
Kristen and I were together, working on ministry projects and doing our usual work routine, when the email dropped in our inbox. The email that would change the course of our lives.
Before I share the story with you, I want you to put yourself in our shoes for just a minute.
Imagine that you’ve been dreaming, praying and hoping for the opportunity to became a published author. The more you research the less your dreams feel like they will ever become a reality. The road is so difficult and you realize that actually securing a publishing contract is nearly impossible. Despite the obstacles, you keep working towards your goal. You keep praying and hoping that one day the impossible will become possible.
That was the two of us.
Our dream of becoming authors seemed too big to ever become a reality. We were working hard, but we knew it would take a miracle from Heaven to make this dream a reality.
And then the e-mail arrives.
“I’m interested in talking with you both about book ideas and possible publication with Baker Books. Would you be interested?”
Out of nowhere, Kristen and I were being directly contacted by Baker Books. They were reaching out to us asking if we were open to the idea of publishing with them!!! This was so big and awesome and unreal that we knew it was from the Lord.
Only He is big enough to make something that crazy, awesome happen.
As you can imagine, we responded back as quickly as we possibly could.
Fast forward two years and our dream has officially become a reality.
Today, for the very first time, Kristen and I held our brand new book in our hands for the very first time. Shock, awe, amazement, gratitude, unbelief, excitement, joy, and pure delight are just a few of the feelings we felt when we opened that exciting package.
To us, this book is sooooo much more than just another book on Amazon or Barnes and Nobles. This book is a testimony of how huge and awesome our God is. He took two average girls from Texas, gave them a passion to minister to young women, gave them a dream of writing a book, opened doors that only He could open, gave them a publishing contract, perfectly guided the process, and turned their lifelong dreams into a literal reality.
My faith in God has been so beyond strengthened as I’ve seen Him do the impossible in my life.
When I held the Girl Defined book in my hands for the very first time, I couldn’t help but think, “God, YOU are AWESOME!”
I can hardly wait for you girls to get a copy of this book in your hands. I so believe that God has been in this project from the beginning and I am confident that He will continue to work into the future.
I really hope that one day Kristen and I can sit down and record the entire story of how the Girl Defined book became a reality. God worked in so many incredible ways throughout the process and I just want to share how amazing He is.
Until we have a chance to record that, I’d love to share a few things with you.
First, I’d love for you to check out the video trailer that accompanies the Girl Defined book.
Second, I want to give you a taste of the book. Download the first chapter for free!
Third, here is the book I’ve been talking about.
It’s not about how awesome we are, it’s about how awesome He is.
The point of this blog post isn’t to say, “Wow! Check out this book we wrote, aren’t we awesome?” No way! The point of this blog is to say, “Wow! Check out how awesome our God is. Because of His incredible mercy and grace, He has used two average sisters from Texas to have a part in accomplishing His purposes.”
I hope and pray that each and every one of you will take some time today to remember how awesome God truly is.
He is amazing. He is wonderful. He is perfect. He is everything and more.
Don’t limit God’s power. Seek to do His will and you will not be disappointed. God will use you in ways that you never imagined were possible. The Bible says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matthew 9:37).
God is looking for willing people to accomplish His purposes.
Will you trust in that God? Will you seek to do His will? Will you be one of the “few” who are willing to serve Him?
