How to Overcome Envy, Jealousy, & Selfishness

A lot of you have been asking how to make Christmas more meaningful this year. Last week we talked about Advent and unpacked exactly what it is and how you can do an advent study this year.

How to do an Advent Study this Christmas

In my (Bethany’s) Advent study, I was reading about a woman, in Luke 1, named Elizabeth. She is an incredible example of a woman who had every opportunity to display envy, jealousy, and selfishness in her life but didn’t.

Instead, she chose the opposite. She responded selflessly.

Elizabeth’s godly character didn’t happen in an instant though. It was a life of walking humbly before God. She was so focused on the Savior that she wasn’t thinking of herself.

Since she loved God more than anything else, she was able to celebrate with Mary (the mother of Jesus) and rejoice in her gift. We can learn a lot from her life on how to overcome envy, jealousy, and selfishness.
