Standing Strong in the Face of Peer Pressure

Negative peer pressure…we’ve all been there. That moment when we feel like we MUST conform because we don’t want to stand out. We don’t want to be weird. We don’t want to look lame.

The two of us have totally been there and we’re guessing you have too.

So what does peer pressure look like?

  • “Come on…just try a little beer, it’s not gonna kill you.”
  • “Everyone is going to the party, don’t be a sissy.”
  • “It’s okay to tell a white lie every now and then.”
  • “Look, if you love your boyfriend, it’s okay to sleep with them.”

The bottom line is this: We all give in to negative peer pressure because we want to please our peers more than we want to please God.

We would rather be accepted by our friends than obey God.
